Leveraging modern payment techniques to enhance integrated welfare solutions
For the first time, the research collects and compares data on digital payment systems and welfare structures (with a focus on health, pensions and social protection) in nine EU countries: Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Spain. The Report develops a new methodology that allows to analyse the payment systems associated with the welfare sectors (Welfare Sector Payments – WSPs) at national or regional level, and to carry out comparative studies between countries, in order to highlight good practices and/or critical issues and imagine concrete answers.
WSPs include not only funds received from beneficiaries, but also financial contributions made by individuals and businesses such as taxes, social security contributions, administrative expenses and other related payments, and also include transactions between businesses active in the social welfare chain.
From Healthcare to Integrated Welfare: perspectives from 9 European countries
Written by SDA Bocconi School of Management offers a comprehensive reflection on the topic of welfare services integration. It considers the new phase that welfare systems of advanced countries are entering, characterized by challenges that will have a significant impact on the needs and expectations of the population. The objective of the report is twofold:
- offer a comparative assessment of health systems of 9 EU countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain.
- provide updated reflections on future research avenues to uncover possible convergences and divergences between healthcare systems. These reflections highlight which general attributes and which more context-specific issues should be addressed to pave the way for integrated welfare systems.
